View the 2017 solar eclipse with the River Campus Libraries from the best view at UR!
Tickets for an exclusive viewing session from the top of the Rush Rhees Tower will be available to the first 50 UR ID holders at Meliora Plaza.
Pre-register now to reserve your pair of safety viewing glasses, required at all times to safely view the sun. We will hold your glasses from 1pm to 1:45pm at Meliora Plaza; after that, all glasses will be first-come, first-served until supplies run out. We will pull people off the wait list as space becomes available. We will also have a limited supply of unreserved glasses; come early!
All activities on Monday, August 21, 2017:
- Meliora Plaza — 1pm to 3:30pm
- Pick up free viewing glasses - required for safety!
- Get a free ticket for the Tower Tour (first 50 UR ID holders only)
- Learn about the science of eclipses
- Rush Rhees Tower — 2pm to 3pm
- See the eclipse from the best view on campus
- Lam Square, VISTA Collaboratory at Carlson Library, Physics-Optics-Astronomy Library — 1pm to 3:30pm
- View NASA's livestream of the eclipse from within the zone of totality
- Learn about the science of eclipses
Also, feel free to join our colleagues from the Student Chapter of SPIE on the Hajim Science & Engineering Quad from 1pm to 3:30pm for the following activities:
- Looking through a solar telescope
- Pick up free viewing glasses - required for safety!
- Learn about the science of eclipses.
